Hey guys,

I've been getting this error since we updated to

When adding products to a quote by typing in a product code into the "Search For" field at the menu bar

"Error in ApplyProductColumnProperties()
Column Cost already exists!"

and then

"Error in ApplyProductColumnProperties()
Column Price already exists!"

Clicking ok twice still adds the product and the quote works fine.

I'm the only client getting this error, the other users use this on terminal and I use QW locally via the network/database link tool.

Thinking about reinstalling but just wanted to check if anyone knows a quick solution?

Have you run nsetup?

With all users out of QuoteWerks, go to site.ini and remote the Version and Build references; when you restart QW it'll recreate bits and pieces and you might see a few errors (this is normal).

Do you still get the same issue?

Greetings, this error can come from an issue with your <user>.ini file. Does it happen to all users or just yours?

If just yours, please try the steps below
With QuoteWerks closed, navigate to your QuoteWerks folder. Find the file that is your username.ini and edit it in Notepad.

Do a find for Product Columns.

If the error is happening when you try to search for a product in a native QuoteWerks database, then find the area that says
[Native Product Columns]
and remove any duplicate columns listed (or simply remove all entries).

Similar entries will exist for any other datasources (eg Etilize, ConnectWise, Autotask, etc) depending on if you have any additional sources. If the error happens when searching one of these alternate sources for a product you would want to edit their respective sections.

Ok so I backed up the file just in case it didn't work.

Yes i'm the only one and yes our internal engineer updated QW recently with the network setup process.

We're using ConnectWise for all our products, an ex-staff member added some products to a QW native DB but we try not to use them.

Here is what I have now:

[ConnectWise Product Columns]
Description=5415
Vendor=810
VendorPartNumber=960
Cost=465
Price=645
ManufacturerPartNumber=1725
[Native Product Columns]
ManufacturerPartNumber=3210
Description=4125
Cost=870
Price=870
Cost=870
Price=870

Do I remove all values so it looks like this:

[ConnectWise Product Columns]
Description=
Vendor=
VendorPartNumber=
Cost=
Price=
ManufacturerPartNumber=
[Native Product Columns]
ManufacturerPartNumber=
Description=
Cost=
Price=
Cost=
Price=

Or like this?

[ConnectWise Product Columns]

[Native Product Columns]

Just removing the duplicate Cost and Price columns in the duplicate columns in the Native Product Columns section should work... see bold italic below:
[Native Product Columns]
ManufacturerPartNumber=3210
Description=4125
Cost=870
Price=870
Cost=870 << remove this line
Price=870 << and this one too

Hope this help,

Issue: Products - Error in Product Look Up Window
Receive Error when opening the product lookup window

"Error in ApplyProductColumnProperties()
Column _____________ already exist!"

Cause:
There are duplicate columns listed in the customize columns menu under the product lookup window

Solution:
1. Click the Products button
2. Product Lookup Window Appears
3. You will see two gray icons on the right hand side under find, reset, show all, and more
4. Mouse over the icons, and click on the icon that says customize columns
5. Delete all the duplicates from the right side column.

The above steps don't go past step 3, When I click products, I get the product lookup screen, but the right hand side under find all I see is "CLear" and "More.."

Clicking more just gives me more fields such as "CustomText01"

I don't see any other icons or buttons except for "Multiple Database Search" or the columns where products would appear.

This worked!

I assume this is the more "technical" and manual way to do it versus the menu system mentioned above.

Thanks all!

Shawn's fix is a relatively new feature only available in more recent versions of QuoteWerks. Editing the User.ini file will work on 'any' version (or at least up to v5.1 - I believe that there are changes in v5.2 which may render the ini file solution obsolete).

Glad I could help,

The reason you cannot find these is because you have 'Multiple Database Search' selected on the left hand side. To see all of the options mentioned in Shawn's comment, you will need to have a database selected.

Steve is correct; in v5.2, the INI settings are put into the database. Dupes will be a thing of the past.

Hooray for being about to retire about five different knowledge base articles! :D

Careful... there are still a lot of User's out there with no UMP. All the old KB Articles always come in very useful! ;)
