We've noticed some customers are accepting quotes in QV online and the quantity is changing from say 1 to 226430319

So as you can imagine, one hours labour ends up being quite a few trillion dollars worth :P

I'm trying to work out how this is occuring, so far I think it could be one of:

1. Customer changing themselves
2. A bug at acceptance or similar
3. Customer might be alt-tabbing out of the quote and typing in a phone number or relevant code into another application and it's typing into the qty field (Although they need to click this field to edit)

Our customers are not too tech savvy so not tab users for fields and such so yeah not sure why it's occuring. Is there a log some where I can check? (btw it's not saying "Customer has changed quantities on <prodcut>" like it normally does when a customer changes this.



As you can see, has been happening for a few years but not often:

I'm not aware of any bugs and not had any of our Users report similar so I'd suggest it's the User. It could however be an anomaly with the browser they are using - perhaps the auto-complete settings?

I've not experimented with it, but perhaps using "autocomplete="off"" and/or "style="display:none"" on the inputs might fix it?

I agree with Steve,

We have had no reports of this happening with our users. I know that QuoteValet helps improve sales but its the first instance of trillions being sold through QuoteValet that I have heard of :D.

It is most likely user error and I would suggest the tips that Steve had offered about Autocomplete being turned off. I would continue to monitor this as much as possible.

It is something that you would put into the HTML of your QuoteValet Template.

Ok so i've been monitoring all my quotes, double checking quantity, previewing, looking at the quote customer link on another PC off our network and have found one that occurred with a real customer.

Sent a simple 1 line Adobe license quote, customer approved within 5 minutes, qty changed from 1 to 5662941, so not like I entered that incorrectly.

So I called the customer who we have a great technical relationship with and I asked him what he was doing at the time, he said he logged into the machine, approved the quote then left. He didn't enter any digits or change the quantity and didn't use any other apps/programs.

So I assume something odd is happening or something on his machine is pushing this number into the field. I've asked him about the number "566294" (Dropping the 1 as I assume that's the original quantity) and he said the number doesn't mean anything, it's not a phone number type here in NZ and it's not a PO or reference for any of their systems. So if a browser is auto-completing this field i'd be interested to know why it's saved.

I will now remote in and see if I can find this number but it's an interesting development, here are some screenshots of the customer page, approved PDF and the quote open in QW





Is there a log I can check or put QW into a mode that gives us more logging/info?

* Is the issue repeatable? I.e. if you send the quote again (to either yourself or the client) and do the same steps so you get the same random number?
* Have customisations been made to the Template?
* What if you try the same steps with QuoteWerks default Template? Same issue or work as expected?

The only logging I know of is on the QuoteValet tab of in the File menu | Properties option. Do these offer any insight as to what's going on?

I also looked into the autocomplete code, but the template looks like it contains more custom code then HTML, so where would be the best place to put the autocomplete block code.

Issue:

Once the document is accepted, end user's phone number or zipcode, or other number-like fields, end up in random fields (e.g. the QTY field).


Solution:

Chrome sees this field as a number field and since there isn't a specific autocomplete tag associated to it, so it is "guessing" basically that it should be a phone number. You can get around this by editing the HTML of your template where the quantity editible fields are and changing the Macro to this:



[DI_QtyBase:InputType=TextBox",autocomplete="off"]


I have mentioned this to development to possibly include in future templates, however in the meantime this small edit should resolve the issue.

Just had another random one, this time the quantity changed to 0 on our end but remains 1 on PDF, QV Client facing site but not when we open the quote on our side in QW.
