Hi

Does anyone know if you are able to hide a database in the product lookup view? We have three databases however I only want some users to see two of them?
Many thanks

Tim

Hi Tim,

Products (menu option) > Setup Product Sources > choose database> edit > hit next a few times
You'll come to a security window.

Here you can control which users can view/create/modify/delete the selected database.

If you don't see this option, ensure that Tools > Options > Security > "enable individual product data source level security" is is selected

Hi Tim,

You absolutely can do this yes. Within QuoteWerks, if you go to Products -> Setup Product Sources, this will display a list of all of the product databases. Select the one you wish to hide and select Edit. Follow the menu through until you come to the 'Product Data Source Wizard - Security. Here you can select the security settings on a database, for example, who can see the database, who can create, modify, or delete products within the database etc. On the next screen, you also have the option to Disable product data source for everybody, if that is a better option for you.

One quick question if I disable, I presume it does not delete the database?

It does not delete the database no but it does not allow any users to have access to it whilst it is disabled.

Hi,

I am wanting to do the same, but when I go to Products<Setup Product Sources and edit the Database, I don't get a security page,
I get"Select Database Type", "Native Product Database" "Name for Product Data Source" and then finally the "Finished" page.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Many Thanks!

Hi Michael,

if you go into Tools -> Options and go into the Security tab, there is a checkbox which says "Enable individual Product Data Source level security" is this unchecked in your installation? This may be the cause of your problem.
