I had set up the real-time connection between quotewerks and synnex yet it doesnt seem to be working the way i had hoped... Am I incorrect in the assumption of it updating pricing every Friday when synnex releases its database update? I just realized the pricing information i have been pulling is from 1/8/2012 when I set up the database link... If I have to manually update, how do i go about this? So far it seems like my only option is to run through the database setup wizard all over again if I want updated pricing which would be a huge inconvenience if that needs to become a friday evening routine...

It doesn't update the local database automatically.
You can either import this manually, or create a .bat file to automate this.

Alternatively, buying Etilize will make this redundant and is a far better solution. Ask one of the sales guys at Aspire about this.. I think it's about $70 a year.

Thank you for this info Matt, Quotewerks customer support was beating around the bush via email. Doesnt it seem like "real-time module" should be real time data? Not thrilled that this is misleading. Thank goodness my company is giving me the chance to explore alternative quoting softwares and solutions.

What's misleading?
The Real-Time Module is actually called the Real-Time data module.

A .bat file can be created, and run at regular intervals.
This file will open QuoteWerks, run a product import template and then close QuoteWerks.

In conjunction with a tool such as AutoFTPManager (which will download the relevant file(s) daily) it is a zero maintenance, once setup, way to import products.

Unless you're using bundles, I'd just use Etilize - a far better solution.

Peter:

There is actually nothing misleading about the real-time data module (http://www.quotewerks.com/realtime.asp). The real-time data module allows you to get real-time pricing from your vendors. However, in order to do so, you need a source from which to inform the vendors what exactly you are wanting pricing for; i.e. the local product database.

As an alternative, you can use our Etilize (http://www.quotewerks.com/etilize.asp) subscription in place of a local product database. Etilize contains hundreds of thousands of parts submitted from the vendors themselves. These submissions include pictures & detailed product descriptions.
You can then use the Etilize content database in place of your local Synnex database as a source to tell the vendors what you need pricing for.

Lastly, for the local SYNNEX database, most users work with the FTP login to download their data. You don't need to do much if you are using the FTP method beyond just creating the shortcut with the syntax below - it will download and extract all the data for you.

Your batch file should call a command like so:

"C:\Program Files\QuoteWerks\qw4.exe" /u:"UserName" /p:"Password" /a:3,1 /exit:2

If you have any questions or run into any trouble, please let us know.
